On p. 3 it refers to getting plug-ins from Udemy.com, but I can't figure out how to get there to go to Udemy.zip. I've tried everything I can think of. Any help would be appreciated. Now I need to try again.I read an earlier version of this book from my library and learned that the program had been updated (again), so I ordered this book. The text is basically a transcription of the on-line video course, and gives you all the screen shots and visuals you need. They're in black and white instead of color, which is a minor issue in a few cases, but the book is geared to people with little tech background, so it was perfect for me. The creators have apparently tweaked the program frequently because they anticipated every question before I could ask, and answered it clearly. The video gives a better view of some processes because of the motion, but the book is excellent alone. As an added plus, the video allows you to ask questions. I discovered that my computer had a glitch when I tried to download material, and the author took the time to message me personally and walk me through the solution. For that alone, he deserves five stars. The book is even more helpful than I hoped it would be and I don't expect to need any other source down the road.As described, the book is the companion of the author's 7-hour YouTube series, and downloads are available on the Udemy platform (no additional charge, but you need to enroll for free in Udemy to access the free coursework, so expect more junk email). The author's accent took a few minutes to get used to, but it's not an issue after a while.I ran into some road blocks last week and decided to geta book that was more current. This book is well laid out, written concisely and clearly with many examples and explanations. I learned a number of tricks to and I am only halfway through the book. The author has a You Tube site that goes along with the book so you can see and follow along with the examples. This is a great way to get the most out of the program. I would also get Beginning GIMP even though is was written for version 2.8. The two books complement each other. Money well spent.This book highlights the features that make the program usable. The examples are clear and the authors understands where the difficulties will arise.Not a good standalone book. As you move through the book you get more to do with colour manipulation etc. Having two colour images printed in black and white to illustrate the changes made, is pretty much pointless.The book is a good reference handbook once you worked through the (very good in my opinion) course and PDF. So what am I complaining about. I wanted something which I could use next to my computer running Gimp instead of running three different tablets to have access to the video lessons, Gimp and the colour pdf's at the same time. If you see the book as a ticket to the Udemy course then you won't be dissapointed. If you wanted a standalone book with clear instructions and with colourful examples to illustrate it's point, then this is not for you.I should have bought this right at the outset, it is brilliant. The book itself is excellent, despite being in black and white, but as the author explains, the book was produced to accompany the course, not the other way around.
