Max Power 5.0 out of 5 stars Why do they use this brand instead of a more expensive or a less espensive one. Because this is the industry standard and gives the most bang for the buck. It's basically a large single piston, so there is as few moving parts as possible. The only part not metal is the base, so it doesn't scratch the floor. It comes with a few bases for different floor thicknesses and a rolling slider base if you want to go that route. This is the only way to do a hardwood floor. One thing of note is you will need is a hand-held air tool like an angled finish nailer to toe-in pieces that are against the wall, because the piston is too long (all floor nailers are like this). You can use either end of the mallet to drive a nail. The hard end is for when you are closer to the wall, it lets you hit the piston at a 90 degree angle, so you can basically put the piston right up against the wall and drive nails.I do have some experience with the lower cost hardwood floor nail guns. While they did not misfire into the wood very often in my experience they do tend to jam, forcing you to stop working, disconnect the gun, and clean it out. I plan to rent my gun out to two friends so they can install hardwood in their homes and then sell it used. I may even recoup all of my costs back. Update 2 - Started on my second project, about 500 square feet of flooring at my friends house. He did have a lot more misfires then I did, however I was not the one using the gun. I feel he was not hitting it hard enough. Also we did have our first jam. The gun was relatively easy to take apart and unjam, just 3 hex bolts. So overall it has fired about 2500 nails thus far, there have been about 50 misfires (90 of which were the fault of the user) and one jam. Not bad I think.This was the top rated flooring nailer and I can see why after using it. No miss nails. Works everytime. Only issue I had was operator error when I tried to rush a little bit. The hammer provided is great. This nailer can help tighten up boards as you nail them. I am using the bostitch floor nails with this nailer. Works like a charm.The instructions are complete but somewhat opaque. Once you know what they want you to do the instructions are apparent in their intent. For instance, the foot can be installed in either of two orientations - I, of course, had it backwards at first. We did find it was very important to make sure the entire foot was square against the previous row of flooring before hitting the pneumatic operation to assure the nail drove in properly and as another safeguard to protect the prefinished wood. Otherwise, a great tool for those who don't want to use a compressor. Get a pair of needle nosed pliers and remove each of the jammed staples. They will pull out I assure you. Then Use a little WD-40 or compressor oil to lubricate the working mechanism at the firing head. IF you must loosen up the mechanism to remove all of the staple parts be sure to use the correct size allen wrench. I am providing link to a free manual for your gun in case you don't have one: Easy to check. Remove airline. Use metal or plastic to push driver to top of cylinder (should easily move). After the driver is at top, see if first cleat moved into proper positon. If cleat is not in position, check pusher and rails for debris. Another blog said that a major manufacturer’s parts fit the HF but did not say which manufacturer. I checked the Bostitch parts list but the o-ring sizes and seals were not the same dimemsions as those listed in the HF manual that came with the tool. Anybody have any info on how I can get parts that will fit? You might get lucky. I was told by a Tech Support rep that HF did not have maintenance parts for this tool.
