Jeff 5.0 out of 5 stars I recently read the 2nd edition and got a lot out of it, but it already felt dated as Facebook changes so much so often. So I got the 3rd edition and went through it in about 2 days. It's been completely re-written and updated with what's working now. If you don't know the authors, they're real experts. Perry Marshall literally wrote the book on Google AdWords and is a direct marketing expert. Keith Krance has been running a very successful digital marketing agency for many years, and I've been working through his Facebook training products, all of which are terrific. There are also a number of guest authors, including Ryan Deiss, the founder of Digital Marketer. The book will take you from 0 to launching your first Facebook campaigns and getting actual momentum. It's mostly structured around principles Keith learned while training and flying commercial airplanes for years before he started his agency. The Facebook Flight Plan is an engaging way to structure the content and makes a lot of sense. As they say in the book, success on Facebook is not about ninja optimization - it's about getting the right offer in front of the right people, and the book takes you through exactly how to do that. There are in-depth chapters on how to craft the best ad copy and creatives, what funnels work for different types of business, and how to optimize and scale campaigns without seeing increased costs per action. There's a chapter on creating one of the most powerful ads - video. And there's a ton of bonus content. If you're just starting out on Facebook, get the book and read through all of it - it will save you a ton of time. If you've been advertising on Facebook and not getting the results you want, get the book and see what you're missing. If you're already a Facebook expert, you're probably not going to learn much, but you could jump to Keith's or Perry's more advanced training. There's a lot of info - if you're just starting out, it's going to take some time, but take it step by step. The only negative I have is that there are a lot of images in the book, and in the Kindle version, they're hard to see (and there doesn't seem to be a way to zoom in). That's not so much a criticism of the book (it's probably an issue with Kindle), but it would be great if the authors provided the images in a separate PDF.The author constantly refers to the illustrations, which even with a magnifying glass, are completely illegible.which make much of the information he provides useless. There is (at least at this time) no way to leave any input on his website, and there is not an online version of the illustrations to go to in order to see exactly what the illustrations are representing. Overall, it would be difficult for me to recommend this book to anyone else given the poor quality of the illustrations, which are absolutely necessary to gain a full understanding of the written material.I don't know if I used the wrong picture, or what rule I violated, I honestly have no idea, but after doing one successful campaign, creating ads for the next round they shut me down and I read elsewhere, not in this book, that it can take a month to get that rectified. The authors of this book should address this common problem right away so beginners like me do not make some unknown error that causes this to happen. Also, this is not the best book for step by step how to place ads for beginners it is more about using the best copy and creating good funnels which is all helpful, but I needed more how to use the ads manager successfully and NOT get shut down by violating something unknowingly - but maybe the end of the book has all that, I only read to chapter 16 so far. Still recommend the book though because it is good for the most part but I am seeking a more hands on book for beginners.Unfortunately, we don't have access to the digital graphic files from the book and can't send you the figures. Please feel free to contact support should you have any other concerns or questions. Perry responded and looked into it further for me. Took a while but I eventually was contacted by the publisher, they're working on trying to recreate the issue on their end and are working on making things right. That's all anyone can ask. The info in the book is great and so is your customer service!However, the book does not critique FB's ad management system or their advertising policies at all, which are both terribly designed and frustrating in equal measure. By way of example. I followed the books recommendations and set up a page to promote my service, started posting and then boosting posts to garner initial interest in my offering. Only to find that a) the ad management system functionality could have been better designed and thought out by my 8 year old son and that b) FB disabled my advertising account pretty much immediately for no reason whatsoever, even after approving my boosted posts. I appealed which unlocked my account. I tried again to boost a post, which was approved by FB (following the guidelines set out in the book) and started delivering, only for FB to disable my advertising account once more. I have sent my passport into them twice now prove who I am. The book simply does not mention that advertising on FB is the most frustrating, non rewarding, negative marketing experience you may ever have. I can only suspect that this omission in content could be due to the author or the publishers working in tandem with FB so as to generate more ad accounts, only for FB to ban them all. Seriously. I understand the potential of the FB audience but the book never relays just how tiresome a process it is dealing with an automated access algorithm that seems to be focused on denial of audience rather than granting of audience. Here's a tip. If you want to use the FB ad management system try reducing your mental capacity to that of a 5 year old and you may be able to navigate through their shambolic systems, only to find that your advertising account will be disabled for no reason whatsoever, mid campaign. Sound good? Time for a new version of the book me thinks.That's not what happened. Most of this can be picked up intuitively on ads manager and the book ads little insight beyond that. It felt like wading through a marathon lead magnet. The graphics in the book are also low quality and hard to decipher. I did glean one or two snippets which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of just 1.It is easy to understand, chapter by chapter you get a detailed step by step guide on how to set everything up. It contains bonus online content and will be everything you need if you want to learn how to rock FB advertising. My only regret is I didn't come across it sooner.I ran a 'page like' campaign before reading this and after reading the book I thought I'd give it another go. My results improved by 400, and I can honestly say this was all down to the content of this book. A great resource and worth buying if your business is suited for Facebook ads!It is NOT for people socialising on Facebook, but people committed to using Facebook for business. He seems to know what he's talking about. I was using it for book promotion, and learned quickly that Facebook is not a good place for book promotion. It is an updated version of the 2015 book by the same name, having taken into account the updates and changes to Facebook advertising's user surface. It meticulously details how you go about setting up your ad, your campaign, how you structure it, how you receive potential clients on your landing page(s) how you interact with potential prospects as much much more. You can buy an expensive course of Facebook advertising or you can buy the best material on the subject, and that material can be found in this book. Just to be clear, Perry Marshall, Keith Krance, and Thomas Meloche authored the book. Furthermore, it is extremely well illustrated with graphics. Unfortunately, quite a number of the graphics were hard to read especially for old eyes like mine. The authors arranged the book into 32 chapters and a collection of useful appendices. Throughout the book, Marshall compares running advertisements to flying an airplane. There are basic principles to each and checklists help. This simple technique can help you increase the number of likes for your Facebook page. One of the keys is to provide and leverage consistent content. I will be writing about boosting in an upcoming post. Keep an eye out.
