GPS receivers have an accuracy of about 15 meters, but you can get to as close as 3 meters with a WAAS-enabled receiver. WAAS stands for Wide Area Augmentation System, which is a network of satellites and ground stations (in North America) that were designed to improve the accuracy and ensure the integrity of information coming from GPS satellites. Originally implemented by the FAA for aviation use, WAAS is particularly useful for serious outdoors enthusiasts as well as for precise in-city navigation. Power and Size The GPS 100 is powered by two AA batteries (not included). It measures 4.7 x 2.3 x 1.5 inches and weighs 5.3 ounces without batteries. Diesel 1.0 out of 5 stars Too cold mil ate for this old Disabled Veteran.I bought this and have been overwhelming delighted with it. No, it's not top of the line, but worth more than the selling price. It works great! Accurate to within a few feet thanks to the WAAS feature. Geocaching is a blast. The unit is very sturdy and weatherproof. It's true it doesn't work well in poor weather, but I'm sure few do. The only downside I can think of is the quality of their accessories. The car power cord works about 75 percent of the time. 25 percent of the time it will claim batteries are low while plugged in. Batteries drain very quickly, particularly when the backlight is on. It is very functional and full of features (e.g. elevation). I've found it to be very accurate. I give this unit a strong 4 stars. I'll go on record as saying it's a bargain.I have checked its positioning against every cache I have found so far and it is typicaly within 2 or 3 meters. Assuming that other geo-cachers use all sorts of brands I figure this is a pretty fair test. I am learning about the limits of the GP system itself along the way. I get the feeling some reviewers are blaming those limits on this unit (maybe because its price is very 'competitive'?) It is intuitive to use, I hardly had to look at the manual. The buttons are a little stiff. I like the rubber on all the corners of the case making so it can bounce around in my glove box without geting banged up. It is very waterproof. I have been caught out in some heavy rain and it hasn't leaked. It did take significantly longer than the 50 seconds the manual said to aquire a fix when I first turned it on but once it was 'warmed up' it was fine. Good batteries literally last for days on end, as long as you DON'T use the back light. The back-light seems to sap them in minutes. I accidentally left my unit on in power-save mode for two days on my coffee table with a set of batteries that had already done several hours daytime use. They were 'almost' flat after all that time. Not bad. Over-all this unit has meet all my exepectations and I recomend it for geo-caching. Got'a be the most bang-for-your-buck unit around. Most of the time the accuracy reading is 40 feet or worse. This unit claims to have accuracy to within 10 feet. Even when there was not a single cloud in the sky and satalites are all around, there was very bad signal. I am probably going to return it for a Garmin.Stores up to 500 waypoints with names and symbols Create 1 route with up to 50 waypoints. Automatically tracks your travel with up to 2,000 log points. User Guide and Quick Reference Guide support 8 languages including: Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish. Also features compass, altimeter, clock, indefinite user data storage. It takes a little time to understand some nuances about it, but once you do, it's quite an instrument. Positives: Palm-sized; quality feel;, ease of use; secure satellite acquisition, even under trees or mounted in a car; altimeter; precision measurements. Negatives: Battery life OK but not great; occasional waypoint navigational anomalies; back-light drains power rapidly; battery cover doesn't seal against water leaks; only allows one route to be saved at a time. People have complained about the loss of satellite acquisition. If you set Battery Saver to OFF, the unit seeks a signal every second. With it ON, it does so every two minutes. Set it to OFF, and you'll love the results. With the 12-volt adapter or healthy batteries, the GPS 100 is amazingly reliable, able to lock onto a least four satellites, giving you an altimeter reading. One thing I highly recommend doing is downloading the manual from Cobra. You'll learn a lot. All in all, this is fantastic GPS unit, and Cobra customer support is terrific. You certainly can't beat the price. Very long aquisition time and gave incorrect locations. Not to be trusted. For all weather use outside, you could even mount it on a motorcycle when it is raining like hell and it won't get wet inside. For screen-protection I just put a thin plastic strap on the screen. This helps against scratches! We never accept payment for gear reviews or editorial coverage. Waypoints are a little time consuming to enter manually since there are only four buttons on the entire unit. Tree cover is also a frustrating problem. We have to find a clear area to get a clear signal (if we can get it then.), and then measure our steps into the forest for best results. Also, the naviagation is always correct in relation to the cardinal compass, but when set to follow your trajectory, the lag is terrible. The arrow sometimes is literally pointing in the opposite direction from where you should be walking, but again, it is oriented correctly according to the cardin al compass. It helps to have a very good sense of direction to begin with. Overall, I enjoy knowing the distance to my waypoints, and it never gives completely incorrect readings. It is a useful tool for geocaching, but it needs to be paired with a little prior navigational know-how in order to be useful. I bought it for hunting. It has basic features adequate for my needs. Takes long to connect with satellite when cloudy or with tree canopy covering. It has to reconnect often which takes some time. It allowed me to pinpoint my location at all the courses that I played at since I bought it. I was able to determine the distance from the ball to any hole that I was shooting at. The unit is also great for hunting, camping and hiking. Now I can go out to the woods and not be afraid of getting lost. No more maps and compasses to calculate my location anywhere I'm at. Once I had it in hand (literally), I found that it performs equally well, too. You simple mark an area and you can always come back to it no matter where you are. Great for hunting!! NEVER GET LOST AGAIN!! I love it because for a small unit it is very accurate and also is lightweight and small enough to fit in your pocket. Verisign. The URL contains a typographical error. Are you sure you want to continue? This will be your only opportunity to combine your separate accounts. Are you sure you want to skip? Each of those games had to be completely re-written in a new code format (“Objective-C”) because the original version, coded for Adobe Flash Player, was too “memory heavy” to work on mobile devices. And because all of Webkinz.com was written in “Flash”, it wasn’t possible for it to work in mobile app web browsers. We began investigating Adobe’s mobile coding system called “AIR”, which would allow for an easier conversion of Flash programs. This initial version was very limited, with the ability to feed and dress your pet outside of the room. It has its own mobile Wheel of Wow and a small arcade with just three converted games which could award KinzCash when it synched up to an account. In 2015, on the 10 th anniversary of Webkinz World, we launched “Webkinz X”. It introduced the new concept of the Pet Care Heart, Family Score and milestone prizes, along with Pet Requests. This was a massive undertaking, which required every item on the site to be converted into the new code format. With tens of thousands of items already in existence, third party contractors were brought in to help convert everything. Unfortunately, due to the complexity and scope of the work involved, the process wasn’t as efficient as planned. Many items that were supposed to be fixed either didn’t work properly or weren’t even appearing. Most recently, we’ve added a new bath and sink activity, along with a brand new Adoption Center. Our mobile Arcade now also features a large number of games that can be played on the go! For Webkinz, once that happens, the mobile version of Webkinz will be the only version of the game. For those that still prefer to play on desktop or laptop computers, in 2018 we will be launching a version of the Webkinz mobile app that can be downloaded onto your computer and played without using a web browser. Keep watching Webkinz Newz for all the updates about the continuing evolution of Webkinz! What would you like me to report on in 2018. Let me know in the comments below. I like having it the way it currently is, and I would hate to play the mobile one on my computer. It stinks knowing you guys spent on that time making “Webkinz X” for the computer only for this to happen. Also, doesn’t Amazing world use Unity.I just have to ask because its been on my mind ever since this article came out. Will we be given instructions on how to do this when the time comes? I mean, when you click “Play Now!” if you have it installed (this is 2020) it’ll open the game. However, if you don’t something will come up saying “You need to download Webkinz” and then you download it. This year, maybe when you are on the login page to Webkinz, perhaps there’ll be a button that reads “Download Webkinz” or something. But we won’t know till’ it happens, sadly. Will the flash version of Webinz be playable until 2020.I have 1000s of tokens in the wish machine. Should I trade them in. I have 1000s of Pachinko seeds. Should I play them? What will happen to these features. While I understand the sentiment of animalsmatter1, buy Ganz products to support them. At almost 30 exchange for Canadians, I will play at a wait and see what happens. I just bought a bunch of trading cards off of Ebay. That’s crazy. They have extra taxes added on to purchases. But hey, nobody loses their home to medical bills in Canada. I’d love to be able to live in Canada. Canadian players are charged in US dollars and right now the exchange rate is roughly 30. This is a business decision made by Ganz. This is nothing to do with “Canada” or the taxes, which I also pay. I am sorry if you are losing your house. If that is the case maybe web games should not be played? That makes me worried!!! Also, buying things like cracker prizes where you get repeats of so many items would be even more frustrating (so I wouldn’t do it) if I couldn’t trade the unwanted or repeat items! Could someone with Ganz give us a heads up about whether or not these things will be possible once Flash is gone: Parties, Trading room trades, Chat Plus parks! But, like ferretfuzzbut, I have no idea what Flash player is, what it does, or why it’s the one and only thing that can allow us to continue enjoying WW.com as it is today. It seems to me I periodically have to update Flash, so, doesn’t that mean that I HAVE FLASH on my computer now and forever. Can’t I keep using it with any games that currently use it. Recently my dad gave me his old iPhone, but I have no idea how to use it and, like animalsmatter1, I can’t deal with such a small screen for more than a few minutes.I join puppies4me and EmeraldCity feeling very anxious about losing something in which I have invested way too much time and money. Part of me hopes I will hate the new format and that I will clear out all the “useless” plush I’ve accumulated and start living a life in the real world instead of my WW mansion. You can tell people have strong feelings, although, in the scheme of things, how many of us would it take to make a difference. Probably my favorite part of WW is submitting room designs to share with other Webkins fans. Will that be a thing of the past. Should this discussion be moved to a forum in which we actually get ANSWERS to our many questions. And should we still keep buying stuff. Are we throwing good money after bad, or would it be an investment in keeping hope alive? I’ve been playing in the app since it was launched. They have a nifty camera in the corner to snap in room pics that you can easily send through mobile.
