The Haynes Manual is far quicker and easier to hone in on the exact information you need compared to the Workshop Manual which is like swimming in molasses. The pictures in the Haynes Manual are much clearer than the diagrams in the Workshop manual. The Haynes is peppered with many useful tips whereas the Workshop Manual is both devoid of anything but the bare essentials and really assumes you know what you're doing (which is expected since the Workshop Manual for Jaguar service technicians). If you had to only choose one, unfortunately the Jaguar Workshop Manual would still be the one to choose, despite its many shortcomings and difficulty of use. However, for most repairs, the Haynes is going to be ridiculously easier and quicker to find what you need. I had been thinking about ordering the Haynes last year from Amazon UK when it came out (2014). I was excited and surprised that what appeared to be a new-updated April 2015 edition was released in the US. However, this is not the case. Obviously this doesn't matter too much such the X-Types have not been made in several years. Of more direct importance is the fact that the Haynes manual is still the UK manual. For example, there are some differences on US models vs their continental counterparts, like the Intake Manifold Tuning valves that have a tendency to need their gaskets replaced are located together on the side of the intake manifold on the US version, whereas the UK version has them spread out on top of the intake manifold. I am not sure how deep the differences go, but it's something to be very mindful about. And of course there are some terminology differences between US and UK English (remove vs undo, replace vs renew, counter-clockwise vs anti-clockwise, etc.) the I believe extend to how different components are referred to as well.I've not used the ChiltonDIY website, but have used the Jaguar Workshop Manual quite a bit so that comparison is the basis of my review. It may not suffice as your only maintenance information source but the price was very competitive and the information contained within is very helpful.Illustration references could be accurate.Most motor related text is to diesel version of the platform.It arrived sooner than expected, so that was nice too.Having said that, this manual claims to cover the 3.0 x350 V6, however it does not hence the reason for a low rating. The manual does cover in reasonable detail other XJ6 types manufactured during the period stated. I, on the other hand, had to go to a specialist to obtain a proper manual that covers my vehicle.Well worth getting if you intend to do your own maintenance.
