JillWeehawken 1.0 out of 5 stars Not fun if you’ve got anything in your hands. 2) I still remember what a pain in the neck installation was—badly written and illustrated manual. Doable, but kind of painful. 3) Installation is a joy compared to the total and complete hell of changing the batteries (which need to be changed all too often). Once you dig out the manual from some drawer so you can remember how many and which batteries you’ll need, and find the super-tiny screwdriver to unscrew the tiny screws on the bottom to release the lockbox, you put on your heavy jacket and warm boots and walk outside in the cold to replace the batteries.http://classicalgardenornaments.com/uplds/cps-cc220-scale-manual.xml

Every time you do this and remove the lockbox, the four latch and doorbell wires become disconnected from the tiny, tiny, tiny little receptacles that they’re supposed to be threaded and screwed into. Yay, now comes the really fun part because you don’t remember from 6 months ago which wire goes where, and although you’d written “black, red, black, red” on the illustration in the manual the first time you did this (because there is no illustration of wires or where they need to go, only an illustration of the screws, go figure) there are two black and two red wires so you have to figure out which is the doorbell and which is the actual latch. So you fiddle about, inserting various wires into these tiny, tiny, so fricking tiny little slots, and hold them all in place while you negotiate the tiny screwdriver, and then you start to put the box back into its holder, but one of the wires becomes disengaged, and you have to rethread it and push it back into the infinitesimally small wire-chamber, and put the box back on, and test it, and it’s still not working, so you take the box back off and see that another wire’s come loose.Yeah, so one star. But unfortunately, I have to score this one down to two stars as it bellied-up on me in only 9 months. Actually, the solenoid lock and doorbell switch are fine.I've reset the keypad to no avail. There wasn't any misuse, nothing to void the warranty, etc.I reset it so the Master code is 1234 again, and when you press 1 2 3 4, it will unlock the solenoid as it should. Press 4-9 and it unlocks it as well. I will retrofit my gate for a mechanical push-button lock and say the heck to over-priced fancy stuff.Clevis pin and “locking cap” can be defeated in less than 1 second. The lock shipped with two of these pins with locking caps, I thought to myself, “they accidentally put an extra pin in here” the truth of the matter is the locking caps are a joke of securing the pin in place.http://ahkjt.com/upfile/cps-cc220-compute-a-charge-scale-manual.xml I pulled the first locking cap off with my fingers, literally. So, I busted out the extra pin and hammered it into place as directed, but locking cap literally Fell off. When I called the company they told me to go to Home Depot and get a bolt that matches the diameter with the locking washer and nut. I pushed back by requesting that they send me the required hardware to make their locking mechanism actually work. But Customer service told me they would not do that. SERIOUSLY ?? I paid over 100 bucks for this thing and I have to go to Home Depot and run down extra parts to get the damn thing to work. Also the keypad does not work at all. Any button opens the gate no code is necessary despite me trying to program it. The hardware portion of the Lock, the solenoid, seems like it’s built really well but it jams with the slightest bit a back pressure on the latch. So after all of my efforts of unpacking, installing, talking to customer service with zero solutions on their end other than advising me to go to Home Depot to fix their lock, I will be spending a half an hour tomorrow uninstalling this thing from my gate throwing it in a box and sending it back. What a pain in the ass. SAVE YOUR MONEY, you will be disappointed. However, the lock opens with the touch of any button. I can't program it because as soon as I hit the program button it just unlocks the gate. 'Scratching my head'. I'm about to pack it up and send it back to Amazon. 3 day update. issue solved. The trick was to program it before placing the keypad in the housing. Now the codes have been successfully changed and the doorbell release works like a charm. I highly recommend the manufacturer to incorporate that note in their manual. My husband installed it to a wood fence, so that we wouldn't have to manage locking our fence with a padlock. It's battery operated, so no additional power supply is needed. Only issue was that we were missing instructions and even the ones available online weren't super clear.https://www.thebiketube.com/acros-edge-exercise-bike-manual But, we figured it out. Final result: looks awesome and functions extremely well. Highly recommended!Supplied switch to open gate from inside temperamental. Sometimes have to push several times to get lock to release. It's critically important to ensure gate is fully closed before trying unlock, as lock will bind otherwise. Keypad seems somewhat troublesome only one month in. Occasionally, lock is unresponsive from both keypad and switch as keypad goes into odd state with the 6,7,8,9, 0 keys lit up. Only fix is to remove screws attaching keypad to outdoor shroud, remove one battery, then reinsert, thus resetting keypad. Bit of a pain in the butt, since when it does happen, there's no way to exit gate. Because of these issues so early on, I'm doubtful that this will be a long term locking solution. I'm thinking I might wire in two momentary switches (normally closed) inside and outside the gate, so that I can reset keypad just by pressing button. For your average homeowner, this is a somewhat advanced technique for something that shouldn't have to be addressed.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Site by Ventura Web Design. In an ideal world I’d like both, to know when the lock is engaged and if the actual get is left in an open or closed position. There MAYBE room inside the latch mechanism but I’m not sure I haven’t opened it. In most cases you would just use a magnetic sensor so that when the lock was closed the sensor indicated one position, and when the lock was open it indicated the other. I just mention this because some locks have a turn bolt and it’s easier to capture the lock in its open position than in its closed position. There’s the part with the sensor itself and the part with the magnet. You can use any magnet, you don’t have to use the one that comes with the sensor. And that gets themselves are generally quite weatherproof. So if you can find a small thin magnet that fits better on your project, you can usually use that. Here is one example from someone who did this with an interior deadbolt. Again, there’s no networked control of the lock, just a sensor to say if the door is locked or not. Any place where the lock has a moving part can be used, including the Turnbolt. It has a latch that basically opens when magnetized and then retracts after three seconds (default time). I was more thinking of installing a sensor to register the completion of the circuit when the lock is energized. As well as your dedication to this community. As long as there’s a moving part. There are a couple of contact sensors used for this. Our stairs are in the middle of our house so a motion sensor won't work without creating a bunch of false alarms. KenIf you could hook them up without having to actually cut wires, then you should be OK. So it just depends on the device. That’s the part I’m really interested in. But I rely on text to speech and can’t do anything with code these days, so you won’t find me in any of those topics. It just happens that the stuff I’m most interested in is the stuff most people find boring, so I stand out more. Just like a door with a deadbolt. Just like a door with a deadbolt Just like a door with a deadbolt. The lock engages a pin that the latch only disengages to release the pin when energized (unlocked). Just like a door with a deadbolt. The lock engages a pin that the latch only disengages to release the pin when energized (unlocked). Replace the push button with the relay, and it has a set of inputs for a contact sensor. This is similar to a garage door setup. It would probably drain the battery of this gate lock fast. Issue is i couldn’t find anything thats outdoor rated. I’m thinking of ordering the same lock and contact relay to secure my side pedestrian gate. Any feedback would be appreciated. Cheers! The gate lock unlocks and locks automatically when the gate opens and closes. I realize it will not report if the gate is physically opened or closed. In an ideal world I’d like both, to know when the lock is engaged and if the actual get is left in an open or closed position. There MAYBE room inside the latch mechanism but I’m not sure I haven’t opened it. I haven’t had much time trying to intergrate a smartthings setup. I was thinking of sticking one of those tiny light switch relays inside the box to operate it. The code entry works well enoguh. I’ve had it now for almost a year and the batterys are still operational all throught NYC winter (though it was a mild one this year). Overall I’d recommend the product. I’ll let you know how the ST integration goes. Cheers. This solution is great for anywhere you want to restrict access, but also want voice and remote control. Check out this article for my favorite smart doorbell. Unfortunately, no one has created one yet, but you aren’t out of luck.fashionedits.com/upload/ckupload/files/Dr-100-Tascam-Manual.pdf It seems to be unavailable so this article has been updated to use the FortrezZ MIMO Lite relay. The information regarding setting up the Go-Control module can still be found at the end of this article. To use the relay, you will need a smart home hub that works with Z-Wave devices. The lock bolts to the gate, while a receiver attaches to the stationary part of the fence next to the gate. This should be close because the time to open the gate can only be set between 1 and 9 seconds before it will lock again. A wire connects the lock to the keypad. This could be mounted directly to the inside of the fence, or on a nearby building or post. Remember you will be running a wire from the keypad to the button. The 9-second time to open the gate applies to the button as well so don’t put it too far away. Mighty Mule has 2 options if you don’t ever want to change batteries. If you use either of the options below you need to use rechargeable batteries in the keypad. The downside of this option is if your gate isn’t close to an outlet you have a long wire to run between the power supply and the keypad. See the power supply on Amazon If you get plenty of sunlight this is a great option. See the solar panel kit on Amazon I suggest getting a power adapter that can be installed inside of a weatherproof enclosure. This Joylit 5A power supply is inexpensive and has plenty of power. You will have to cut the plug off the 12V power supply cable to attach the wires to the relay module. The COM and NC terminals are the relay output to activate the gate lock. This sets the mode of the relay to momentary, meaning it only turns on when you tell it to. Or to Latching where it turns on and stays on until you tell it to turn off. For our use we want to remove the jumper to use the relay in momentary mode. If you use a weatherproof box you can locate it inside or outside. To link the module, press the button on the front and then add the device using your hubs app. Name the module something like “Gate” or “Fence Lock”. This allows the module to recreate the action of pressing and releasing the gate button. Just remember that you need to turn the relay module on and then back off again. When looking for a way to do this I discovered many DIY smart gate locks, but they all require circuit boards or fancy programming. Connecting the system here is no harder than wiring a light switch, and the only “programming” involved is creating the routine in your Alexa app or smart home hub. If you have this relay, or if you find one here is how to set it up. This can be hardwired into your home’s power or wired to a plug. Any reason this wouldn’t work with Google Home as well? Would this work? Right now it is hooked up to a wireless push button in my home. Can I leave that connected and add the connection to smarthub too. That way we could open the gate both thru the wink app and manually from our home. If I want to use the hub to remotely connect to other locks (like our front door) will the hub work with both gate and front door locks so far apart? The enerwave switch passes the 120vac signal used to power it to the load. For the gate lock you need a “dry contact” that just completes the circuit. This relay module from FrotrezZ would be a suitable replacement for the Go-Control Module. I am going to update the article to include a link to it as a replacement for the go control. If you do it that way both will control the lock. There are too many variables that affect the distance the signal will travel. One thing to keep in mind is that z-wave is a mesh network. That means the signal can be passed from one device to another, so any other z-wave devices between the hub and gate or you front door will act like a repeater. Thanks, Jason So there is a push button near the gate as well as the wireless one in the house). I will send you an email as soon as it’s there. Please try again It's a great product at an incredible price that works where the only other solutions would involve installing weldable gate boxes and cylindrical prep hardware (kaba 2000, Alarm Lock DL2700, etc.) which is often impractical and always expensive. These will bolt to almost anything and the latching arrangement leaves a wide margin for wobbly gates. Most customers don't want to do that. It is possible to do back to back keypads with this and a FM137 but be aware the FM137 stays active for 40 seconds after the last key is pressed in a valid combo, a flaw that could be exploited by tailgaters, plus it's twice as many batteries and codes to change... which is why I mount them sideways when possible. Contrary to other reviewers, I have not had a bad keypad yet. Everything works out of the box so far. PROS: Extremely versatile. Heavy construction. Lots of wire and extras included in the package. Simple and easy programming. 25 codes, plenty for most situations. Easy to adjust if your gate or fence moves. CONS: Clevis pin and cap is a joke. I can never get the cap to seat properly. As others have mentioned, not much room inside the case for wires.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again We had our contractor put a small cover over the unlock button on the inside and that keeps the rain off. We have run into a small problem. After a few months, the unlock cycle (triggered by the keypad or inside button) is now failing unless the gate is pressed completely closed. It seems that if the lock mechanism is touching the receiver pin, it cannot retract properly. You might expect it could not release if triggered when someone was pushing on the gate. However, it fails when the gate has just drifted so the point that the latch is touching the pin - no pressure on it. So, for the latch to retract and allow the gate to open, the gate must be held in exactly the right, totally closed, position so the latch is not touching anything. This does not seem correct, but I called the Bulldog technical service this morning and they assured me that this is how it should work. It is not much of an issue for me since I know how to deal with this when I go to open the gate, but the next time I have a party and a bunch of visitors are trying to open the gate, it is going to be real problem.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again This is the exact same product as if you buy the Mighty Mule gate lock (this is labeled for the pedestrian gate.I looked up instructions for both and they are the same). I never could understand why there was an extra electrical board included. If you’re wanting to hook it up to your gate opener make sure you use the wiring diagrams that come with the gate opener, not the lock, to connect it to the main electrical panel. The instructions that come with the lock have mislabeled diagrams and are for hooking it up to a battery. Once I had the wiring hooked up to the main electrical panel I had to test wire placement in the keypad because what is labeled in the instructions isn’t where the wires go even if not running it to the gate opener. Unless you use the key to manually lock the lock all someone needs to do is take something solid (screwdriver, credit card, etc) and push against the latch to pop it open. Also, it’s just a pin with a cap that you hammer on that is what the latch secures to (that is mounted onto the post). I’m using the gate lock to make sure my dogs don’t get out more than security so it works for me.if you want something for security I would keep shopping.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again The contact closures on this keypad compared to the one in the FM137 is totally different. Don't make the same mistake I did.if you have or are purchasing the FM145, get the F310 to add on to it, not the FM137. We purchased a few of these for around our campus at a private school, and they seem to do the job very well. Installation was not bad at all, and the directions for programming were very detailed and easy to understand. One small issue we have is that on windy days, sometimes the push button will not work. We think it is because the wind pushes the gate in and puts pressure on the latch mechanism. If you push the gate back ever so slightly, the latch will unlock the gate like normal. This only happens on rare occasions though, and the system is great other than that minor detail.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again I installed it on a PVC fence door. I had to do some small adjustments on the door like add wood in the inside. I purchased the transformer and the remote separately. I put in rechargable batteries so that the electric will constantly recharge (you can purchase a solar power option if you like, but my house is already solar powered so I ran electric) it is Perfect for what I wanted and blocks entrance to my side yard. Now I have a option to go in with a code and a remote control button. Amazon replaced it no Problem. If it breaks down again I will post it. I believe it was just a bad board from the factory because the Com - Power was never working on the Board so I used direct and I guess it didnt last long. The replacement everything worked.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. Please try again Maybe the worst investment ever on amazon. The set up with the wires and the code box makes it very difficult to install on the fence. The setup requires you to connect the box on the fence first, then connect the wires. One has to thread the wires threw the little hole in the back of the code box mount, then attach it, then connect the wires and then pull the code box to the mount. This process of pulling threw and trying to mount disconnected my wires so many times. When I finally got it figured out, the code box would not accept the master key. Long-story longer - expect a major hassle to install, this is NOT a walk in the park. Plus - customer service at this company is non-existent.Sorry, we failed to record your vote. If you need more space you can always upgrade to our top large pick, the SmokePro SGX model, which gives you 1236 square inches of cooking space to work with. The SG 24 ticks all the boxes you would expect from a pellet grill at this mid-price point. You’ll enjoy the set it and forget it style cooking with two meat probes included as well as clean smoke flavor, and minimal ash to clean up. The latest model also includes WiFi so you can monitor and control your grill from your phone. All of the main parts are built with heavy-gauge stainless steel and feel sturdy. This unit comes with a trap door for easy burn pot clean out. Camp Chef has good support though so if any issues do crop up they should be easy to resolve. The app continues to receive updates so we hope that Camp Chef address these issues. We should point out that you can use the grill just fine without the app (once you have updated the firmware), so unless the app experience is crucial for you, this shouldn’t be a deal breaker. We struggled to find anything else to fault this grill on. It’s a super versatile unit, especially with the add on sear box. If you’re worried about buying a charcoal smoker and only firing it up 3 or 4 times a year then you can’t go wrong with this unit. You’ll be looking for any excuse to fire it up and experiment with smoking just about anything. The SmokePro SG 24 is available in Black and Bronze and qualifies for free shipping at the Camp Chef website. While it’s become trendy to trash Traeger lately, they have made a bunch of improvements to the Pro models in 2019 that make it well worth considering The Pro now comes with WiFi for remote control and monitoring of your grill. The new Pro also addresses a few common issues with older Traegers. Namely poor heating speed and difficulty maintaining temperatures. The new D2 direct drive uses a brushless DC motor to achieve higher torque at lower RPM. What does this actually mean. Basically the motor can turn the pellet auger faster, which lets you get more fuel into the firepot for faster and hotter cooking. These features used to only come with the top of the range Timberline series, and they make the Pro a great buy in our opinion. You can choose the Pro with either 575 or 780 square inches of cooking space. You can also choose between black or bronze color schemes. You get one temperature probe that lets you monitor your food temperature from the grill interface or via the Traeger app. You can even choose from hundreds of pre-programmed recipes which will control the entire cooking cycle, changing the temperature and air circulation for you. Other than having to fork out extra for the shelf and cover, the Pro Series represents the sweet spot of value to performance in the Traeger lineup. A quick word of warning. Traeger slightly tweaked their naming convention with the 2019 models. The older models are called Pro 34, where the 34 represents the size of the main grilling rack. The new models use the entire cooking surface area in the name. If you don’t think you’ll take advantage of the WiFi features, you can save some money with one of the older models, but in our opinion, the upgraded drivetrain, motor, and fan plus WiFi make the Pro series our runner up pick for best pellet grill. Because there is so much technology involved, there’s a lot more that can break (or never work correctly to begin with). So when we heard Z Grills were manufacturing grills of Traeger quality at significantly lower prices we were intrigued. The company seems to have popped up overnight, but it looks like they have actually been manufacturing grills out of China for other US companies like Traeger for a number of years. It appears they’ve decided to skip the middleman and launched their own brand selling directly to the public in 2017.
