I usually wait to do reviews until I've thoroughly used a product because it's nice to know when you spend your money on something that it will actually last. I know most people leave reviews fairly early in their purchase and I tend to look for reviews with updates so I hope this helps.Unfortunately HP did not have replacement parts for these cheap plastic hinges so I had to scrap the entire printer; very disappointed. A friend has a Cannon printer (MX series) and I was happy with the features but not too happy at what he paid to replace the black and color cartridges. I also learned about self cleaning an how that burns ink so the top of my list was a printer with affordable ink. The Brother printers can't be beat in that department. I don't use my printer very much and the HP sucked up ink during it's 'cleaning cycle'. The printer offers another thing I rarely use but is convenient to have, a full blown FAX that can send and receive. You'd be surprised at how some mainstream companies still won't accept PDF docs but will take a FAX for banking and other legal matters. Installation: A breeze, had it online wirelessly without reading the manual; found my SSID, put in password - connected. Software installation on Win7 was just as easy. Printer was available to the local lan. Ease of use: Downloaded iPrintAndScan app for my iPhone and scanned a document, emailed it in jpg and PDF, without reading a line from a manual. Printed photos from my iPhone to the printer. Some of the comments I read about this printer said that it did fair color printing of photos. I have printed photos and several artworks using quality photo paper and the results are superb. It scans photos and artwork better than many professional scanners. The ability to make quick easy in-house copies is also a big plus. I have not used the fax or the card reader function as yet. A marvelous feature of Brother MFC is the inexpensive ink cartridges, the name brand cartridges are cheaper that HP, Canon, Lexmark, and others. Amazon has great non-OEM Brother cartridges at veru low prices that work flawlessly with this printer. I highly recommend this very quiet and dependable little workhorse fax, copier, scanner, printer.I had nothing but problems right from the start. First it takes a mechanical engineer to set it up. Part of the reason I bought it was for the wireless capability. I finally got the wireless part set up but a few days later it went out again. I finally gave up on it. Then I had a problem with the ink cartridges stopping up. I have called Brother over and over. They offer very little help. Now, It has stopped printing altogether. There was a bit more setup needed then I remember for other printers but it went without a hitch. It's a bit clumsy to put in your wifi security key with the telephone type keypad, but once it's in you're set. I actually used 3 different wifi routers (switching internet providers) and it picked up each one on the first try. So far (3 months) I'm still on the factory cartridges. No jams. Faxing, scanning and copying was all simple too. Quality seems fine to me though I'm not looking for high quality or printing photos. I haven't received a fax yet but there are good clear instructions on how to set it up to use a dedicated fax line, or receive while sharing it with your voice line. I can't say whether it's fast enough or good enough or uses ink efficiently enough for a higher volume user. So it isn't high volume printing here. The box of 11 cartridges arrived in a very timely manner after ordering them. They are all individually wrapped and labeled and look exactly like the ones that fit into the printer. As the message on the printer comes up to change the cartridges that are out of ink, I open the one I'm putting in up, put it into the machine and in mere seconds it finds it and I have a full tank of ink now in the color I just replaced. All I know is, they work. I am happy with them, they are exactly what I wanted. The print outs look great and the printer runs well. What's nice about this purchase is they give you 5 black cartridges with the 2 sets of color ones for each color. So that's a lot of printing that should last you a nice long while. I still haven't gone through all the black ones yet and I bought this over a year ago. Of course I'm sure results will vary. But all I can tell you is what I have experienced and if you are looking for a good quality and affordable set of replacement carts for your Brother printer, look no further. I inserted the black ink cartridge into printer, I have a brother MFC-J615W that requires LC61 series ink cartridges, and it is working great. I'm very happy to have found this ink source. Note: I would suggest when replacing the cartridge to make sure you snap it in place. At first, I thought it wasn't fitting. I inserted my old cartridge in again to see how it fit. The brother brand snaps in place a little more effortlessly. Carefully, I put the new one in again with a little pressure to hear it snap into place and the release lever went up. Also, I noted that this company is in America. Not saying that automatically makes them a better company, but in this case I believe it is. The amazing price for a set offset the possibility that some of the cartridges might be defective, but so far we haven't found one. I did take a look at each one in the package, without opening the vacuum seal, and didn't see any that appeared to be leaking. And the packaging they used for the ones I received had a clear or opaque plastic piece over the ink level. I gently moved each one back and forth and could see the ink flowing, not gelled or hardened. Someone mentioned they had trouble getting the color cartridges to work unless they had a genuine black cartridge with it. While we haven't had that happen, it would still be worth it to me to use these generic cartridges with a genuine black one if necessary. It would still be a huge savings. The cost of a set of genuine cartridges usually is more expensive than the printer itself. It reminds me of the free safety razors Gillette gave away to soldiers during WWI. They only charged for the double edged blades. And that is where they made their money. I am sure that is why the printer companies only put starters cartridges in their machines when they sell them. They make their money off the ink. While I can understand that, it doesn't mean I must buy those cartridges.Big mistake! Good I have to say I'm satisfied with the colour cartridges, they work without any issues. Bad I bought these cartridges mainly for the black ink, I purchased a package with 5 black cartridges and a few colour cartridges for my brother printer. Simply remove the plug, simply inject the ink, simply replace the plug. The black will fit 100ml of ink and the colors will fit 80ml. This means you will have to refill a lot less often.
