Can anyone help with the following problem I have aBritish Gas ES1 The LED on the thermostat is lit and it turns on theboiler but the dial does not. It may not display this or other websites correctly. You should upgrade or use an alternative browser. We bought the house in August and there was no user manual left for us (the sellers don't have it anymore). It had been recently serviced by BG Home something or other, as the service report was left for us. I have just tried to buy a user manual from gotoplumbing.com.https://www.chorwacjaapartamenty.com/images/can-am-renegade-800-service-manual-free.pdf The gentleman on the phone was very helpful and looked through the manual whilst I was on the phone just in case what I needed wasn't in there so I didn't have to spend ?12 unneccesarily. He said he didn't think the information I needed was included in the manual. Basically, we turn our heating on by turning the thermostat up in the lounge. It doesn't appear to make the heating come on UNLESS the Advance button on the actual boiler is pressed. The man from gotoplumbing explained that by pressing advance it would give me one hour of heating. Often it gives us more than an hour. I'm wondering if anyone who has used this boiler would be able to tell me how can I programme it so that I can a) have the heating come on in the morning, switch off and then come on again in the evening and b) How to get the heating to come on by turning the thermostat without making sure that the advance button is pressed. As I said the man said that the manuals didn't have this information in it. It has a digital clock on the boiler, with options to choose once, twice and two more options (which I can't remember what they are). Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Some models may be obsolete. The good news is that low pressure is relatively easy to diagnose and, in some cases, you can put it right yourself. To help you stay calm under (low) pressure, here’s our handy guide to the most common boiler pressure problems, and their fixes. For it to work as efficiently as possible, your water pressure needs to be stable. Pressure in most modern combination boilers is maintained by a 'filling loop', which connects to your cold water pipe. We’ll come back to this!gulf-rope.com/images/bulk_images/files/Detecto-Scale-Parts-Manual.pdf It may only be a tiny leak but, if it’s gone unnoticed for some time, it could lead to a gradual drop in pressure. Take a look around your home for signs of damp patches, around pipes, radiators and the boiler itself. You should never look for leaks inside your boiler, though. Only a Gas Safe engineer should open this. If you do find a leak, or need to top up the water pressure regularly, give one of our engineers a call and they’ll be on-hand to help. That’s because, when you bleed a radiator, air is released, which lowers the pressure in your boiler system. If you have a hydraulic pressure gauge, you’ll see low and high pressure indicated by red sections on the dial. The position set when the boiler was installed is sometimes shown by a red indicator needle. On most digital gauges, you’ll see a flashing pressure reading, if there’s a low (or high) pressure warning. This is where that filling loop (or filling link) comes in again! Additionally, reducing pressure by bleeding a radiator may take some time, and you will need some method of catching the water to prevent damage to wall and or floor coverings. Above all, be careful. This water is very hot, so maybe get an engineer to do it. Your boiler may also have instructions on the rear of the control panel. (If you need any tools to remove this panel, don’t touch it. Get in touch and we’ll have a Gas Safe engineer do this for you). The two main types of filling loop are 'built in' and 'external'. Be careful to catch any water spillage, and keep the filling loop in a safe place! Book an engineer anytime from your online account. Registered in England and Wales (No. 03141243). Or, it’s just the energy companies fault. The scumbags. Check for low pressure If your boiler's not working, and it's simply low on pressure, you'll be back up and running in no time. If the boiler is still not working, you'll need to call (and pay) a heating engineer (sorry). It's a surprisingly common cause of a boiler that's not working. Your boiler might be working just great. Any advice? Thanks WB have a good name, some say they are trading on the name more so then there current range of boilers. What they do have going for them is great customer service. Ive fitted plenty of there boilers and had very few issues really.Try and check ratings for the installer on various trade sites if you can. The WB warranty is excellent but please make sure that your home is surveyed and things like water pressure and gas flow rate are checked BEFORE any work commences. I learned this lesson the hard way. Also see if you can get a good wireless thermostat installed at the same time, and perhaps a Magnaclean too. The WB boiler will only need its first service after two years from new. Proof of servicing may be required to validate a guarantee. BG do check water pressure as part of the quote, so if a 32kw is deemed suitable consider getting the other two to requote for something more powerful. It is worth it in the long run as you will get a higher rate of hot water. My WB-accredited installer stated 2 years to me for the first service. I wiuld have thought he would know! I've just called WB to double-check because one of their WB-registered installers told me the first service is after two years. They have taken his details and will speak to him! Great for safety, but unfortunately that means no central heating or hot water for taps. This is known as a boiler lock out and could be caused by: Just find the manufacturer of your boiler to discover what the error code means. If you can’t see the button, then check the manual that came with your boiler, which should also explain how to reset the boiler. In most cases though, once you’ve found the reset button you will need to: If the boiler hasn’t reset then you should contact a qualified engineer who will be able to locate the fault. You can find out the water pressure by looking at the pressure gauge; you should aim to keep it at around 1 bar. There are several reasons why this might happen (e.g. blocked burner, insufficient gas pressure) and you should contact a heating engineer to take a look. By using Boiler Guide, you can get free quotes from up to 3 trusted engineers in your area who will each offer you a quote, allowing you to compare and pick the best one. In this case, you’ll need to look further than the issue that the fault code displayed. You’ll be able to tell because the display screen will be lit. This is particularly common after a power cut and it’s a good idea to check your fuse box. Try Boiler Guide today. Cabling might have poor contact breaks and pinching or the plug and wiring of the burner control unit needs checking, also check the operating characteristics of the boiler by replacing the burner control unit.
