(this can vary widely depending on pellet size, length, and diameter) EPA status: exempt Burn time: 1 lb. to 5 lbs. Page 6 INSTALLATION COMBUSTION AIR SUPPLY For a mobile home installation the stove must be connected to an outside source of combustion air. Page 7 INSTALLATION 7 Equivalent Vent Length (EVL) The longer the run of pipe in your installation (both with insert and freestanding), the more restriction there is in the system. OPTION: To achieve a center vertical installation a 45.OPTION: Install L-Vent elbow in place of clean-out tee. Locate stove. Page 9 INSTALLATION C. 9 VERTICALLY INTO EXISTING CHIMNEY SYSTEM Adapters are available to adapt from 3” L-Vent to 6” or 8” Class-A chimney. (Figure 10a) As an alternative, 3” or 4” L-Vent can be run inside existing chimney to termination. (Figure 10b) This is the preferred method. Follow guidelines for equivalent vent length. Page 10 INSTALLATION D. VERTICALLY INTO EXISTING MASONRY FIREPLACE NOTE: See “VENTING” and follow L-Vent chimney manufacturer’s instructions. 1. Have the masonry chimney inspected by a qualified chimney sweep or installer to determine its structural condition. 2. You will need a pipe length equal to the chimney height from the hearth. If outside combustion air is to be used, you will need a pipe length equal to the chimney height plus 18 inches. 3. Page 11 INSTALLATION INSERT INSTALLATIONS Insert installations must be vented with 3” or 4” pipe. Pipe may be single wall stainless steel flexible pipe. Vent may terminate within chimney beyond a blanking plate or extend to the chimney top. See “COMBUSTION AIR SUPPLY” for outside air access information. The fireplace and chimney should be cleaned thoroughly before starting the installation. We suggest painting the interior of particularly old and dirty fireplaces to seal any odors. Page 12 INSTALLATION B. WHEN VENT PIPE EXTENDS TO CHIMNEY TOP (Refer to Figure 15) 1.http://www.djvandinho.com/userfiles/casio-exilim-ex-fh100-manual.xml You will need a pipe length equal to the chimney height (from hearth) plus 6 inches. If outside combustion air is to be used, you will need a pipe length (see “COMBUSTION AIR SUPPLY”) equal to the chimney height plus 12 inches. 2. Attach cerablanket wrap to the end of vent pipe that will connect to the stove. Use 12inch lengths of light gauge metal wire (not included) or metallic tape (not included). Page 13 INSTALLATION D. AS A BUILT-IN FIREPLACE Figures 16 and 17 describe a P24 installation vented into either a special chase built outside an outer wall or a false inside wall. This is especially suited for new construction or remodeling. The equipment compartment (sides and rear of the stove in fireplace) must be enclosed per the applicable electrical standards. These items must be reinstalled to restore the fireplace to its original operating condition if the insert is removed and not replaced. Page 15 OPERATION 15 PANEL CONTROLS (See Figure 19) The blowers and automatic fuel supply are controlled from a panel on the left-hand side of the P2000. No other firestarter is necessary. The igniter will stay on for at least 10 and up to 15 minutes, depending on when Proof of Fire is reached. The fire should start in about 5 to 7 minutes. Page 16 OPERATION PROPER FUEL THIS STOVE IS APPROVED FOR BURNING PELLETIZED WOOD FUEL ONLY. Longer or thicker pellets sometimes bridge the auger flights, which prevents proper pellet feed. Burning wood in forms other than pellets is not permitted. It will violate the building codes for which the stove has been approved and will void all warranties. IF STOVE RUNS OUT OF PELLETS The fire goes out and the auger motor and blowers will run until the stove cools. This will take 30 to 45 minutes. Page 18 THERMOSTAT INSTALLATION OPTIONAL THERMOSTAT A thermostat may help you maintain a constant house temperature automatically. A millivolt thermostat is required. A fixed wall mount or Breckwell’s hand held model can be used.https://www.informaquiz.it/petrgenis1604790/status/flotaganis11062022-0610 The control panel can be set up two ways to operate your stove in thermostat mode. Unplug stove from power outlet. Remove control board from stove. Page 19 OPERATION OPERATING SAFETY PRECAUTIONS PLEASE READ THIS! a. Hot while in operation. Keep children, clothing, and furniture away. Contact may cause skin burns. b. If you notice a smoldering fire (burnpot full but no visible flame) AND a heavy smoke buildup in firebox, immediately TURN OFF the stove, but DO NOT unplug it. Do not open the door, change the damper setting or tamper with any controls on the stove. Page 20 MAINTENANCE FAILURE TO CLEAN AND MAINTAIN THIS UNIT AS INDICATED CAN RESULT IN POOR PERFORMANCE AND SAFETY HAZARDS.ASH REMOVAL Ashes should be placed in a metal container with a tight-fitting lid. The closed container or ashes should be placed on a noncombustible surface or on the ground, well away from all combustible materials pending final disposal. Some regular vacuums and shop vacs leak ash into the room. Page 22 MAINTENANCE AUGER MOTOR AIR SWITCH HIGH TEMP THERMODISK PELLET HOPPER AUGER SHAFT CONTROL BOARD COMB. This guide may save time and money by enabling you to solve simple problems yourself. Problems can be caused by to only five factors: 1) poor fuel; 2) poor operation or maintenance; 3) poor installation; 4) component failure; 5) factory defect. Refill the hopper. 2. The air damper is too far open for a low feed setting. If burning on the low setting, you may need to close the damper all the way (push the knob in so it touches the side of the stove). 3. The burnpot is not pushed completely to the rear of the firebox. Page 26 TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE STOVE FEEDS PELLETS, BUT WILL NOT IGNITE Possible Causes: Possible Remedies: 1.http://immobilien-ankauf.com/images/cajun-smoker-manual.pdf Air damper open too far for ignition. Push the air damper in closer to the side of the stove for startup. In some situations it may be necessary to have the damper completely closed for ignition to take place. After there is a flame, the damper can then be adjusted for the desired feed setting. 2. Blockage in igniter tube or inlet for igniter tube. Page 27 TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE STOVE WILL NOT FEED PELLETS, BUT FUEL FEED LIGHT COMES ON AS DESIGNED Possible Causes: Possible Remedies: 1. Fuse on control board blew Remove the control board. On the back there is one fuse. If it appears to be bad, replace it with a 5 Amp 250 Volt fuse. Plug the stove back in and try to run the unit. 2. High limit switch has tripped or is defective Wait for the stove to cool for about 30 - 45 minutes. It should now function normally. Follow all cleaning procedure in the maintenance section of the owner’s manual. 2. Vent pipe installed improperly. Check to make sure the vent pipe has been installed according to the criteria in the owner’s manual. 3. Page 29 TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE HIGH LIMIT SWITCH KEEPS TRIPPING Possible Causes: Possible Remedies: 1. The convection blower is overheating and tripping the internal temperature shutoff. Clean any dust off of the windings and fan blades. If cleaning the blower does not help, it may be bad. 2. The stove is being left on the highest setting for extended periods of time. The highest heat level setting is designed for use over short periods of time. Leonard Moore 4.0 out of 5 stars After contacting amazon, and explaining my situation amazon gave me a choice of returning the stove, or take a discount and buy the trim myself. I chose to take the discount and order the trim myself. All worked out great. We are very happy with this item and the after sale service we received from Amazon. It has exceeded my expectations. Does a great job of heating the area I use the most. No major issues after 21 years. I do understand that Breckwell was acquired and several people have alluded to service issues. I've found it reliable and easy to maintain. Doubt that I'll be able to replace when the time comes with same quality. We have a 1992 Breckwell P24. Over the summer my husband replaced both blowers and it was working perfectly until a couple of weeks ago when it suddenly stopped feeding. We do have a green light and it will feed manually. I read on this forum to test the vacuum switch first so we bypassed it, the stove worked and we ordered a new vacuum switch. When we replaced the switch the stove still would not feed automatically but when we tried to bypass it again it wouldn't feed that way either. We have bypassed each of the other switches one at a time, each time the green light will come on and the stove will only feed manually. We did determine that the door gasket is leaking but I assume that if that were the problem the stove would have continued to feed with the vacuum switch bypassed. Can anyone suggest what we might try next. Thanks very much. I troubleshot the control board to find that one of the timing chips failed. The timing chip was only 2 bucks and easy to replace with a soldering iron and solder sucker. I'm puzzled by the vacuum switch fix not working but a bypass not doing the trick leads me to believe the control board is not sending power to the auger. Andi In other words you could actually have an air leak and it is tripping the switch. Try the following: Possible Causes for a vacuum issue: AKA ERR 2 or AIR FLOW ISSUE Gasket around door or glass not sealing properly. Leak in the gasket around the draft fan and the draft fan not clean.3dtechgroup.com/uploads/image/files/Canon-imageprograf-w8400-service-manual.pdf Unit has not been cleaned: firebox, underneath firepot, behind clean-outs on inside of unit, brass port inside firebox clogged, vacuum hose clogged-brittle-cracked, exhaust pipe clogged, exhaust pipes not sealed, improper venting—excessive horizontal length—too many elbows—vented INTO chimney, and the last thing to rule out is a faulty pressure switch itself. 90 to 95 of the time a faulty pressure switch is NOT the problem. Just because the unit will run with the pressure switch “jumped” does not mean the pressure switch is faulty. It simply means we have told the unit to “ignore” the vacuum problem. Cleaning firebox: clean thoroughly, remove firepot-clean underneath, clean brass port in firebox, remove ceramic brick(6039-6041)—tap on the back wall of the firebox several times to loosen any accumulated soot or ash-lift clean-out slides-remove any and all soot and ash—may need to use a flexible brush or some customers use a straightened wire clothes hanger and push any build-up in between the two clean-outs to one side or another and then remove. Check gasket around door and glass and make sure it seals all the way around-that it is not frayed or burned allowing any gaps.(some 5500-5510 have gaps at bottom of glass gasket) Make sure the door seals—doing paper test. UNPLUG UNIT. Remove side panel—left side facing stove—locate pressure switch-remove hose from pressure switch-blow through to make sure it is not clogged or cracked. Make sure it is connected well to the brass port going into the back of the firebox,--AGAIN—make sure it is not brittle cracked or damaged—reconnect hose to pressure switch making sure the clamp is tight. Make sure the exhaust piping has been cleaned—all of it, not just the clean-out tee removed and emptied. Make sure the piping is sealed—especially the first piece attached to the exhaust pipe.It did initially but now it will not run either way. Andi The only other causes for safety shut down of the auger are Hi limit disc, low limit disc and the hopper switch. With each test we have a green light and the stove will only feed manually. You may have already done one of these, not sure how you tested the hi limit. After that my only other thoughts would lead to a board. Is this what you are talking about? Did you check the wires for damage or breaks? If it is the control board, I found an ad on ebay to send it to someone in PA. They check it out and then tell you what it needs to be fixed. Is that what people normally do? Working for the company though I can't really say to do that. I just have a copy I downloaded. I just have a copy I downloaded.I would by pass the low limit then the hopper, check the wiring harness out for damage or breaks, then decide on the board. The hi limit, low limit, hopper switch, harness or board. That leaves nothing else it could be that I know of. If we get a new board, I saw a digital board that would replace the analog one that we have now. Is that a big deal to change out? Double check the settings and serial number on your old board. This kit uncludes a digital C-E-301 circuit board and a C-E-UH1000 wiring harness. The opening on the side of the stove for the circuit board may need to be enlarged. Kit comes with instructions on how to re-wire your stove.Sometimes the failure is intermittent. Sometimes it occurs only after the motor has warmed up. Sometimes it is the bushings being worn or gummed up. Then we have the cases of loose couplings that lead to funny (well not really) operation. Contact local building or fire officials about restrictions and installation inspection requirements in your area. Failure to follow these instructions could result in property damage, bodily injury, or even death. You are now prepared to burn wood in the most efficient, convenient way possible. To achieve the safest, most efficient and most enjoyable performance from your stove, you must do three things: 1) Install it properly; The purpose of this manual is to help you do all three. Failure to follow these instructions could result in property damage, bodily injury or even death. It is designed for residential installation according to current national and local building codes as a freestanding room heater. It is also approved as a mobile home heater which is designed for connection to an outside combustion air source. Any blockage of the air supply to or from the stove will seriously degrade its performance and will be evidenced by a smoking exhaust and a sooting window. Avoid high ash content fuels because this will rapidly fill up the burn pot and eventually cut off the combustion air supply. We suggest that Turn it off, monitor it, and call your dealer. Keep all such liquids well away from the stove while in use. If an outage does occur, check the stove for smoke spillage and open a window if any smoke spills into the room. Turn the stove off, periodically inspect it, and call your dealer. Notify your insurance company of this stove as well. The instructions must be strictly adhered to. Do not use makeshift methods or compromise in the installation. Failure to maintain your stove may lead to smoke spillage in your home. Do not use an adapter plug or sever the grounding plug. Do not route the electrical cord underneath, in front of, or over the stove. All other work should be done by a trained technician. This manual has important operating and maintenance instructions that you will need at a later time. Always follow the instructions in this manual. Turn the stove off, periodically inspect it, and call your dealer. Keep children, clothing, and furniture away. Contact may cause skin burns. Educate all children of the danger of a high temperature stove. Young children should be supervised when they are in the same room as the stove. It is recommended that the stove be unplugged when not in use for extended amounts of time (i.e. during the summer months). We also suggest that all horizontal connector joints be sealed with UL-181-AP foil tape. Ashes must be disposed in a metal container with a tight lid and placed on a no combustible surface well away from the home structure. Any other type of fuel burned in this heater will void the warranty and safety listing. Access to the rear of the stove is necessary. Check local codes for approved alternatives. From 5 to 10 feet use 2 ?” inside diameter pipe. No combustion air supply may exceed 10 feet. A closeable outside air register can be used in tightly insulated homes. In insert installations, flashing vents should not be restricted. The flashing should not necessarily seal the fireplace face. The stove was tested with Simpson Duravent brand. Class “A” chimney is not required. Refer to the instructions provided by the vent manufacturer, especially when passing through a wall, ceiling or roof. We also suggest that all horizontal connector joints be sealed with UL-181- AP foil tape. Therefore, larger diameter pipe should be used. An 8-foot vertical pipe run is suggested where possible to reduce the possibility of smoke spillage in the event of a loss of negative pressure. Exhaust gases can reach temperatures of 500?F and cause serious burns if touched. Mobile home installations must use a spark arrester. Locate stove. Drop plumb bob to center of tee outlet, mark point on ceiling. Install ceiling support and L-Vent pipe per L-Vent manufacturer’s instructions. When passing through additional floors or ceilings, always install firestop spacer. Install upper edge and sides of flashing under roofing materials, nail to the roof along upper edge. Do not nail lower edge. Seal nail heads with non-hardening waterproof mastic. Slide storm collar down until it sits on the flashing. Seal and install cap. Mobile home installations must use a spark arrester. If outside combustion air is to be used, you will need a pipe length equal to the chimney height plus 18 inches. Use RTV, metallic tape, and a minimum of three self-taping screws at all joint connections to ensure a tight seal. Cut out holes for chimney pipe, and if used the outside air pipe. Install and seal with non-hardening mastic to prevent water leakage. Install vent cap. Use a 4-inch diameter hole for 3-inch pipe and 5-inch diameter hole for 4-inch pipe. Cut out holes for chimney pipe, and if used the outside air pipe.
