Brombie 4.0 out of 5 stars The good news is that I am two months within the 6-year warranty, so timing is everything, isn't it. Here is the reality dose, which I imagine many know and will not be surprised to learn. All water heater manufacturers make tanks like this to last on average 7-10 years. Their business model is predicated that the average consumer is going to be installing a new water heater like this one at some point during this span. This is the definition of planned obsolescence, Usage and water quality are certainly important factors affecting the longevity, as is yearly maintenance. For kicks, take a poll of your family, friends, and work colleagues to see which ones actively maintain their water heaters each year.I consider myself lucky to have had mine fail today within two months of its warranty expiration. Like many other products today, manufacturing is predicated on average longevity determined by the industry. FWIW, I do like this product, and I requested it specifically years ago. I recommend it--with the caveat I have stated above. We never run out of hot water now. I would recommend this and give it a five rating.I contacted to company for reimbursement for the labor since it had been used for barely four years and they basically said tough luck, we have a policy. Go with another reliable brand that actually backs up their product. Those people who are complaining about there's being dented, well you should be taking that up with the store you bought it from, Bradfordwhite has nothing to do with it being dented, either the shipping ( if you got it shipped ) or the store is responsible for that. Also i see complaints about the water heater failing, 1st these water heaters need to be installed by a licensed Plumber, Not a handyman, not a home owner, not a general contractor. A licensed Plumber only!. Also if you have a plumber install it, he should be telling you to flush the water heater every year, this will pro long the life, so if your plumber or whoever installed it didn't tell you, then you should take out your frustration on them. I have installed every brand out there, And in my opinion Bradfordwhite is the best. But if its installed wrong, or if someone is rough housing it during shipping or unloading, then of course your going to have issues. I buy mine directly from the contractor supply store, and i am very careful with loading and unloading it. I take my time installing them, and i always tell customers to drain and flush them every year, if thry choose not to then that's on them. Most homeowners dont do anything after its installed, they dont even bother to read the manual. So if you buy a Bradford white or any brand water heater, you should stop being so cheap and hire a licensed master plumber with good ratings to install it properly, And i bet you will not have issues.Others have said theirs came dented. Mine did too! The company who installed it, warranties the unit for 10 years and labor for repairs for 3 years.Paid 700 dollars installation and everything. I started having trouble with the water heater 2 years later. The pilot light would constantly go out and I would have to lay on my back (now fused) to relight the heater. At 5 years called plumber. They replaced the thermocouple and safety switch. In the next 2 years I was on my back an average of 8X a year relighting. I had to keep the front metal cover offf just to keep the flame on. Called out another plumber that replaced everything again at 9 years. Anyhow had to pay same company to put in a brand new one.Now it is Dec 31st and replacement died (leaking - same as first one). Had an A.O. for many years when I switched to Bradford (was less expensive). HA - not if you have to replace them every couple years!! Even tho it’s warranty is 6 years, who needs the expense, aggravation and inconvenience of replacing it!! I’ll be 3 days without hot water because (of course) it decided to die on New Years Eve!! Going to go back to A.O brand even tho a bit more costly but at least it’s going to last longer. Our unit failed after 5-6 years.pilot light doesn't stay on. 2 separate plumbers came to look at it and they both told me it's better to install a new one.they aren't built to last.
