For example Japanese products are usually technologically advanced, durable and functional, but often lacking in that almost indefinable charisma or sense of aesthetic style. On the other hand the origins of Italian products are often immediately recognisable without recourse to the manufacturer’s identification. Many people can recognise a Ferrari without looking at the badge, and also in the automotive world the designs of Gugiaro and Ghia are legendary. The Italians can even inure the humble bicycle with a breathtaking sense of style. Slotting neatly in to the existing family of modular audio and video door entry systems from the company, the Bench Test team has been taking a look at two monitors, the Nova (no it’s not a Vauxhall), and the Exedra (which sounds as if it should be a two-seater sports car). Their modular concept and clever housing design ooze Italian design house style, and could not have been manufactured anywhere else. The product is part of a modular range, using a standard module size of 65mm wide by 50 high and 38 deep, in both surface mount and recessed versions. Single module housings are also available, allowing the receiver and monitor to be mounted separately, should the system design or space requirements dictate. We would have preferred to see the connection diagram and termination information in a clearly separate panel in the leaflet, although we realise that this could be difficult in a multi-language instruction sheet such as this. As might be expected from a screen this small, the resolution of just 521 x 218 pixels is a little grainy, but perfectly adequate to identify the caller at the door. Colour and brightness controls produce a relatively sharp and clear picture, plus there is a camera scroll control to adjust the picture in the horizontal plane. Again the monitor runs on the PAL system, video input is 1v peak to peak, and it is powered from a 14 to 17.5v DC source. We tested the combined wall surface mounted unit, which measures 240mm wide by 220 high and 60 deep. The handset and monitor are available with a number of housing options, allowing a combination unit in both desktop and wall mounted, plus individual housing for both handset and monitor, in both surface mounted and semi-recessed. Also available is a service module which can replace the monitor in the combined housing, and which can be used for auxiliary services, such as audio and video answering machines. The Exedra was run from the same entry panel and power supply unit as the Nova.http://nsdadventist.org/FCKData/breadman-ultimate-bread-machine-manual.xml The monitor produces a crisp monochrome picture using a vertical projector reflecting from a recessed screen, giving a viewable area of approximately 80 by 60mm. Brightness and contrast controls are recessed thumbwheels at the bottom of the unit, and give an excellent result. The monitor also features the same vertical camera scroll function as the Nova, as well as an auxiliary function button for a variety of uses, for example switching stairwell lighting during entry. Security Installer’s testers are not full-time members of staff. They are independent working installation engineers with many years of practical experience on the tools. Their identities are unknown to the manufacturers of the equipment they test, and the manufacturers are not allowed to see the report before publication. Our experts write for the installer, not the manufacturer. However manufacturers have, over the years, changed the design of a product to take account of our criticisms, which are made constructively and impartially. Part of the highly successful System 200 range of video and audio door entry systems, the Nova and Exedra combine the ultimate in modern design with functionality. The smallest colour door entry system monitor available in the industry, the Nova has proved popular in both modern and more traditional homes due to its small size and choice of surrounds, which enable it to blend into most environments. The success of the Nova is based on providing clear colour images yet it has a sleek, minimalist design, is compact in size and can be flush-mounted into a wall, making it unobtrusive and therefore suitable for a very wide range of homes and offices. Its hands-free operation for communication, and pushbuttons with symbols indicating usage, make the Nova monitor very easy to use. Exedra 200 has emerged as a highly attractive communication and security tool that will look good in any home environment.http://www.drupalitalia.org/node/75465 It is available in white or anthracite grey with blue finishing touches and can be surface-mounted or recessed. Exedra can be wall-mounted or used as a compact table-top unit. Installation Manual. Handbuch fr den. 3. INDICE. LYNEA BASIC (YVL301-YVCL301). PAG. 6. Bouton simple a DPS et hauteur double b DPH,. (2) The stair light and door lock release controls may only be activated by the monitor when it is switched on. Entry panel selection in systems with several entrances If the system foresee more than one entry panel, the SW4 switch, figure 8, must be in the stairs light position to select this option. To operate the selector: press the entry panel activation button to turn-on the monitor, and then press the stair light button to select the entry panels. Door lock release (2). A call from the entry panel during an internal conversation between two intercom units is indicated by the activation of the monitor and the emission of a low acoustic signal. In this case, communication with the entry panel (and hence the possibility of activating both the door release control and the stair light relay) may be established by hanging the handset of the intercom unit currently in use and lifting the handset of the one signalling call. The wires in the multicore cable must be connected to the terminals in the monitor following the installation diagram. The tables below indicates which colour wire is to be connected to which terminal number in the socket. In this instance to attend the call it is first necessary to replace both handset on the cradle. This switch can be used, for example, to isolate the call from the entry panel to the handset, or attenuate it. Press the button and the red indicator comes on to indicate that the call has been isolated or attenuated. Function of SW jumper (fig. 13) SW inserted: unit works as attenuator (default). It features three buttons with a common contact (takes up the space of 3 buttons). - Max. load to button contact when used for activating auxiliary services: 24 V, 100 mA. Wiring The cable’s wires must be connected to the modules’ terminals following the installation’s wiring diagram. Position 0: call disabled; Position I: call attenuated; Position II: normal call (default setting). Function of SW jumper (fig. 7) SW inserted: unit works as attenuator (default). It consists of a steel plate and 3 metres of connecting cable with 12 wires. Loudspeaker and microphone are placed inside the housing, bottom and top respectively. To converse the push-button should be kept depressed. The changeover contact relay is activated by the call signal. The adapter can be installed in audio and video entry systems 200 series. DIRECT mode (NIGHTTIME) Callers can call and converse directly with the tenants from the entry panel. If the entry panel also features the porter call button, where necessary the caller can also call the porter (the tenant is out, requests for information, etc.). The porter is advised of a call from the entry panel by an audible signal and by the luminous green indicator 2 lighting (and the monitor coming on, where fitted). When the handset is lifted, the entry panel is put through to the switchboard; replacing the receiver on the cradle breaks off the conversation and DIRECT mode operation is resumed. If, following the conversation with the entry panel, the porter finds he must call the tenant, the call can be made immediately without hanging up. The volume of incoming call signals to the switchboard can be controlled by means of potentiometer 5, figure 1. If a surveillance camera is installed in the porter’s lodge, the tenant called by the porter will see the relevant picture on his monitor. The tenant can also call the porter: this generates a call note and causes the luminous red indicator relating to the receiver making the call to light. In order to answer a call from an recei- ver via the switchboard, lift the handset and press the corresponding call button; the red indicator goes off. In the case of residential installations, if the call is addressed to a tenant in an engaged block, the call causes the luminous red indicator 1, figure 1, to light for a moment, and the luminous red indicator of the tenant remains lit until the call is attended to. It can be either surface lounted or recessed. The porter is advised of each call from the entry panel to the switchboard by the luminous green indicator 2 lighting (and the monitor coming on, where fitted). Lifting the receiver puts the entry panel through to the switchboard. If one of the receiver (tenant) call buttons is then pressed, the switchboard puts the entry panel on hold (and the caller is therefore unable to listen to the conversation with the extension), and the switchboard is put through to the tenant called (the picture of the caller comes up on his monitor) who has, in turn, lifted his handset. When the conversation with the tenant is finished, the porter can resume conversation with the entry panel by simply pressing the switchboard’s cradle switch actuator 4, figure 1, or can put the caller at the entry panel through to the tenant by pressing the transfer button illustrated in figure 1 (the luminous red indicator 1 lights) and replacing his own handset. The conversation between tenants and callers keeps the line engaged until the set time has elapsed (approx. 30?90 s), after which the switchboard resumes its regular operation and the luminous red indicator 1 goes off. The equipment can be installed without terminal covers into boxes provided with DIN rail (EN 50022). Dimensions are shown in figure A. They can also be surface mounted, using the DIN rail supplied, but fitted with terminal covers. The unit supplies in direct current: 1 - monitor, entry panel and accessories (17.5V DC stabilized); 2 - auxiliary services (12VDC stabilized); 3 - electrical door lock, 12VDC or AC, 1A. TV 5.1 C 5 6 21 8 8A 22 11 12 23 14 13 16 B 5 6 8 9 AD 3 4 7 Operating characteristics 1 - System activation timer The installation remains active for 30 s following a call at the entry panel. If the handset is lifted during this interval, the activation time is increased by 30 s and may be extended to a maximum of 90 s by adjusting potentiometer TV, figure 1. If the system is activated by the entry panel button, located on the receiver, the system activation time (when not interrupted by another call) may be adjusted between 30 and 90 s using potentiometer TV in figure 1. 2 - System deactivation The installation is switched off by the system timer once the set time has elapsed, or on completion of the electrical door lock function. 3 - Call note The unit is equipped with two differential call tone generators. The first generator (terminal 8) is activated each time a call is made at the entry panel which simultaneously causes the system activation timers to switch on. The second generator (terminal 8A and jumper SW in figure 1 energised) activates without switching on the system. This means that the second generator may be used as a landing call signal. When jumper SW is de-energised, the activation of the second generator causes the system to switch on, and permits, if required, the identification of two call sources (2 entry panels). The outputs of the two call generators can simultaneously control a maximum of 3 receivers. SW Fig. 1 4 - Door lock release (12V 1A) The supply voltage to the electrical door lock is limited to approximately 1 to 15 s (adjusted using the potentiometer in figure 1) also with continuous activation of the door lock release button on the receiver. If the door lock release is activated by an auxiliary button (connected to terminal 23), the electrical door lock is energised for the duration of activation of the said button. 5 - Conversation privacy The unit powers audio and video conversation privacy when monitors and handsets are installed in the same system. Two differential call note generators, controlling up to 3 receivers. Installation activation time 30 s. If the handset is lifted during this interval, the activation time is extended by 30 to a maximum of 90 s (adjustable). Electrical door lock activation time with time interval adjustment of 1 to 15 s. Compatible with both direct and alternate current-operated electrical door lock (12V DC, AC, 1A). It is capable of supplying 1.7A at 17.5V DC and is electronically protected against overloading and short circuiting. NOTE.
