I put it together which took all of 5 minutes, read through the manual and tested it on a gold ring before leaving the house. I searched the spot where I thought I had lost my ring. On the second pass, beep went the Bounty Hunter. I homed in on the spot, brushed aside the pine needles, and saw a glint of gold. There was my ring!!! Evidently when I turned around in the woods to look for it at first I had stepped on it and pushed it into the dirt. I would probably have never found it without this metal detector. I could have spent a lot more, but for owning it less than one hour I am thrilled with the results. Super easy to use, and it works. What more can I say.I turned the sensitivity all the way to it's lowest setting, but noticed no change. I turned the unit off and back on many times. I held the coils high in the air and still got the false signals. I assume mine was defective as the reviews for this product are pretty good and my other Bounty Hunter brand detector (different model) is fairly solid. When you dig the plug and start finding the relic, the tendency is to grab a clump of soil and run it over your metal detector coils and either discard or break it into a smaller clump depending on the response. I didn't trust the pin pointer to notify me if the object was in the clump because the detection range is such a short distance. I am returning both.I had one really big concern. I am hearing impaired and I mean my hearing is really bad. I read one review that said the person had difficulty distinguishing the different beeps. Well, it arrived in a day or two, it was packaged really well and arrived in good shape. It is super light and easy to use, the instructions are easy to understand AND I CAN EASILY HEAR ALL THE DIFFERENT BEEPS WITH NO PROBLEMS. I love this thing. I had to laugh at all the people who saidm their yard was full of holes.so is mine. LOL This is a good tool and easy to use.The bad: My wife is very short, the forearm cradle is in a fixed position and can't be adjusted.
