For a good result is necessary the perfect mix with the tone on the guitar. Obviously, it must be used in conjunction with Dist. You must experiment to get a good result, but these two controls, used with awareness, can create a great variety of options. As i have said at the beginning of the review, the MD-2 isn't user friendly. A brief period to understand how it works is necessary, and the use of these two knobs is, certainly, rather complex. I actually have 4 of them, gathered throughout the years, all still working flawlessly, and use all four plugged in a power strip under my Pedalboard Classic JR giving me a total of 2000mA and they power 8-9 pedals (mostly analog but also a couple of digital ones) without any problems. No ground loops, no unwanted noise, no need for a professional power supply (such a cioks) yet. Works really well and the build quality is top notch. I Have used them both live and in studio. One minor complaint is that the cable is really really long which is useful when you're trying to reach a socket that's far away but for me that I use them with a power strip under my pedals it can get a bit cluttered under my pedalboard when I have the four of them together. I absolutely adore it and would definitely recommend it. For computer connection it installs instantly and the software is also very easy to use. My past processor was a line6 pod (bean) so this is a nice upgrade. I think it has all the effects I'll ever really need. I just wish BOSS wasn't so cheap and include a power supply, but other companies are guilty of that as well. After much research I set my sights on the Boss ME-80. I sold what pedals I had and took the plunge and I am so happy I did. The versatility and tones you get for the price are amazing. Having dedicated knobs makes it easy to dial in your tone on the fly. My only wish is that the looper could record longer. But for the price, this board is hard to beat. Everything is labled and laid out. Just turn the knobs and click on and off. It has all (most) the Boss' pedal effects. I use the overdrive, blues drive and distortion, they are just like the real Boss stomp boxes. The phaser and flanger are the classic ones. But the best thing is, that this multi effect has built in pre amps. From Fenders to Vox amd Marshalls. Often im in the gig where no reliable amps are available. No worries, i just connect my ME80 to the PA and turn on the preamp. Only thing i am not happy is, this unit doesnt have effect loop out.
