Sin embargo, en determinadas circunstancias este efecto de succion puede llegar a ser un problema en otras embarcaciones (por ejemplo navegando con el toldo plegado). Otros factores que pueden incrementar el efecto de succion son el viento, la distribucion de las cargas, el movimiento de las olas, el trimado, escotillas abiertas, etc. Si se viaja a velocidades lentas el monoxido de carbono puede acumularse dentro y alrededor de la embarcacion, especialmente en vientos de popa. La acumulacion de monoxido de carbono se produce facilmente cuando la embarcacion esta en dique. Procurar reducir a un minimo el tiempo en dique mientras funciona el motor.
