MICKEY MAC 5.0 out of 5 stars The Rumor touch is not as sensitive as a touch smartphone, it's a little hard to get use to the touch of the Lg Rumor Touch, but all altogether a great regular phone to have.It is a fully digital phone that I found out about by calling Assurance. All but one other model Virgin Mobil style, use old fashioned non-digital technology for Assurance Wireless service. You save money with their service, but get penelysed with most of the phones assurance offers. I am one happy camper with this phone!Full side slide out QWERTY keyboard, helpful for texting and e-mailing. Limited internet access capability (no wi-fi). Camera is basic 2.0 camera again, good for a first phone. Alarm clock still works great as does the keyboard. Have been a virgin mobile customer for 5 years, I would recommend this phone and virgin mobile service to a friend!I've been using it for about 3 wks and I think Im going to return it for a different one. PROS:I mostly use my phone for texting- the qwerty slideout keyboard is nice but if u type too quick it'll add a letter extra timesssss. You are able to hear who you're talking to nicely. It looks nice. CONS:I dont know if its just my service but when I try to use the web it ALWAYS says it is currently unavailable, retry.again.again. I don't think I've been able to use it even once. Bleh- really??? Both options suck. So, Im constantly unlocking my phone to see if I have anything new. No free games. I take that back, there are 2 but you only get to play them twice then you have to pay for them. They had to send me a new phone because of that and now a few weeks later the second phone doesnt charge properly.http://dev.pb-adcon.de/node/26863 I used specialdiscountcenter which is a crap amazaon seller (beware of them!) anyways and it looks like there is a reason that this phone is sold at a discount. It doesnt work!!! When the phone is fully charged it reboots for no reason what so ever and will keep rebooting itself until the battery goes dead. If this is your alarm clock you are screwed. Oh, but you can turn off this wonderful feature by turning on the stopwatch to keep the phone busy so that it doesn't reboot automatically without warning. Lastly, this is by no means a smart phone. Its not anywhere close to as good as the HTC sense and wont even mention other real smartphones as this one is NOT a smartphone. You CANNOT DOWNLOAD APPS and must use the crap apps that is hardwired installed on this phone. By far the worst phone I've ever used. A flip phone or an old nokia with no bells and whistles would at least stay on and make calls properly.Of course, when I got it there was only a phone and a charger in the envelope (No box!) with none of those accessories. That was the 1st of very bad hateful experience. Now I have to spend more money to buy a new phone. I will not be reselling this crap phone on amazon I do not wish this sort of trouble on anyone else. I just wish other sellers on amazon had the same level of integrity and stop advertising and selling the LG Rumors all together. The software design is very disorganized and somewhat confusing; you have to remember where most of the menu items are, it's ridiculous. The phone locks itself when you're in the middle of a phone call, and you have to unlock it if you need to use the number pad or when you want to hang up (unless the other party hangs up first). The instruction manual that came with this phone is outdated and very incomplete. It seems more like an overview. In some parts, the instructions were incorrect. Even the online manual on Virgin Mobile's web site is outdated. The Kyocera Cyclops flip phone I had prior to this phone was better for my needs. It was easy to program, and had the basic, necessary functions. All in all, a great deal.Awesome keyboard is so awesome it has a back light. The sad part for me was when it fell out of my car at 65 mph on the freeway. Afterwards i decided to buy an android then an iphone. Bad mistake. any android user will tell you the phone will start to lag at some point. Its slider QWERTY keyboard is easy to use, and we like that it has a 3.5mm headset jack for music, e-mail, social networking support, and great call quality. The only difference between the Sprint and Virgin Mobile models lies in their respective services. The Virgin Mobile version doesn't have Sprint Music or Sprint TV, and offers Virgin Mobile Navigator instead of Sprint Navigator for maps and turn-by-turn direction. In this review, we'll focus on just call quality and performance. We were impressed by the call quality overall. There was very little static, and calls sounded crisp and clear. Callers said we sounded great as well. They did say voice quality was a little muddy at times, and we sounded rather muffled when in speakerphone mode. We thought the speaker quality was decent, but nothing earth-shattering. We wouldn't use the phone for listening to music; bass was weak, and songs lacked richness and depth. We loaded the mobile CNET page in just 20 seconds, and the New York Times site in around 40 seconds. According to our tests, the Rumor Touch has a talk time of 6 hours and 48 minutes. According to the FCC, it has a digital SAR of 1.2 watts per kilogram. We delete comments that violate our policy, which we encourage you to read. Is this phone more than a Rumor with a touchable face. Find out if faster networking and a spec boost make this the Rumor to pass around in our hands-on review. The touchscreens not bad, and I love the 5 row keyboard. I got this phone after having the original Rumor for two years. It is a great improvement, especially screen size. The battery life is also incredible for a touch screen phone. The guy at the Sprint store said it had 7 hours. The Hello UI is cool too. I don't use it, but thats just me. One thing I don't like is the home screen. Most touchscreen phones have shortcuts and things on the home screen. All the rumor touch has is a menu button. Pros: -OK touchscreen -Long battery life -Great Keyboard -Hello UI Cons: -Home Screen -No dedicated text button -Touchscreen is not the best Very clever!!! I also love the touchscreen-very user-friendly and responsive. The only missing feature that kept me from giving this phone a 5 rating is when you turn the phone sideways, there is NO virtual on-screen keyboard as an option to type--so the only way is by sliding the phone open and using the actual keyboard-which is GREAT-by the way-but the option of typing on screen is nice sometimes too for a change of pace. Other than that, this phone is amazing. Camera quality is excellent too. Also love the Facebook option-kudos for giving us that. Overall this phone rocks.I highly recommend it to anyone that loves to text and loves a fun phone!:) But now i have for virgin mobile and it runs great. Only thing is it seems locked down compared to sprints model. Pros: Battery life is acceptable Call quality is decent Full keyboard is well out Touch screen is very accurate and feels good Loud speaker UI is surprisingly decent 3rd party Java apps supported Opera Mini is quick and nimble Charges fast Camera is decent Cons: Phone does tend to reboot sometimes out of the blue Few camera options If you listen to music, you can ONLY listen to music, no multitasking Processor is a little slow Data speeds aren't the best Handwriting recognition is mediocre at best Screen does scratch a bit too easy Vibrate is a bit weak My speaker blew after 7 months. Still usable, but doesn't sound crisp Despite all the cons, this phone is worth buying. I would highly suggest this phone to anyone. I have owned the LG Rumor Touch phone through Virgin Mobile for about a year and it's terrible. Virgin's network is awful. I can never get a signal in my home. Customer service is terrible. They never know how to resolve any problems whenever I have called, never mind if they can even understand English. The phone itself is lousy. The touch screen is useless. It just stopped working on me last night. Don't know why or what could have happened but I have tried relentlessly to get the touch calibration to work and that's just impossible. I try to send a text with the keyboard and that's impossible. I can type the text but can't figure out how by using the keypad to get to the send button on the screen. It's just been a very frustrating experience with this phone and with Virgin Mobile and would not recommend either to anyone. Though I call every month they don't ever know how to resolve this issue and so I continue to pay for services I am unable to use and have to wait weeks for any kind of resolution. Not sure if it's Virgin Mobile or a problem with the software on the phone. I am unable to update this phone as it does not have many options with Virgin Mobile than other carriers that use this phone. PRO'S - Keyboard is nice and easy to use. CON'S - Can't use your music as ringtones. Can't play music when doing anything else. Can't update software. Can't view web pages accurately. Can't browse the web most of the time. Music quality sounds bad. Phone screen auto locks too quickly. When using touch screen to answer call you easily hang up on people. Doesn't come with barely any ringtones. Camera is horrible - only takes good pictures outside in daylight otherwise blurry and dark. I would not recommend this phone to anyone especially if you get it from Virgin Mobile. It is unbelievably annoying because it sends duplicate text messages constantly-sometimes in the middle of the night. It's driving me nuts. The voice thing that will read your messages for you screws up sometimes to-like a scratched cd. Many times I try to get on the internet it is very slow or it will say its unavailable and to try back later. Grrrrrr. PROS- I like the keyboard and the little functions like the drawing panel and voice command. The camera and video are nice too. CONS- the obvious annoying duplicate messaging, sporadic internet access, delay of touchscreen, rather uninformative owners manual So many options out there for phones and many more on the way it seems like every two weeks. I feel like a kid in a candy store but since im not quite ready to sign on the dotted line yet, I chose this phone after much research and through reading many reviews. I recommend this phone to anyone in the market for a prepaid phone. I feel that you get the bang for your buck with this one. Thanks for reading. Recently, that's been the g stylus, which gives you something extra to use with that big screen. It is available in black titanium, vibrant blue, purple, gray, and orange. The phones are offered by Sprint in Black, Blue, and Orange and were released in March 2009. Although it is a bit bigger and slightly heavier, the QWERTY keyboard has been adjusted to have 4 full lines of the keyboard enabling more space for texting. It is suspected by the internet community that this was to prevent a loophole where customers could create a blank video with music on their computers and assign them as ring tones, thereby subverting any subscription or download fees. One downside of this phone is the internet browsing. Most websites will only allow half of the page to be viewed. The QWERTY keyboard easily slides out to the right. It is very similar to the original Rumor camera.Mail, Windows Live Hotmail, AOL Mail, Gmail, and an additional user-defined POP or IMAP account. There is also instant messaging support for AOL Instant Messenger, Yahoo. Messenger, Google Talk, and Windows Live Messenger. Other additions to the phone include Virgin Mobile UI and VM default wallpapers and ringtones. The number keys now have their own row, as opposed to the original Rumor keyboard where they shared a row across the top of the keyboard. The keys are still made with rubber. From the Sprint website, there are 101 games to pick from with different prices. Messaging is the main source of entertainment from the phone.Note: GPS does NOT work with Google Maps on Virgin Mobile. In Canada, the phone is available at Bell Mobility and its brands Solo Mobile and Virgin Mobile Canada. President's Choice, a Canadian mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), also sells the Rumour 2.By using this site, you agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. However, it certainly wouldn't hurt to double check. You can do so by entering your phone's IMEI number on Cricket website. Unlike ordinary Verizon and Sprint phones that don't support SIM cards, their global unlocked phones are GSM ready and will accept Cricket SIM-card to obtain service. Metro PCS' service run via T-Mobile's GSM network, so unlocked phones won't have any issues with compatibility for talk and text. You may weigh buying even used or refurbished phones instead a brand new one. Below you can find all suggestions. The package includes a nano SIM card, a micro SIM card adapter and a standard SIM card adapter, so you will be able to use it regardless of which type of SIM slot your phone support. This is especially true for Sprint which has their voice, text and data services based on technologies not globally deployed. To be sure that the phone you are buying will work with Sprint’s network, it is important to look at the device specifications to ensure that it supports frequencies that are compatible with the carrier especially when you look for a replacement cheap phone, which in many cases is discontinued by manufacturer and service provider. This means that the device you are about to buy has to include radios that can tune into the frequencies that Sprint is using for its 4G LTE network. As for 4G compatibility, you will need to make sure the handset you purchase has radios that can tune into the frequencies that Sprint uses to deliver LTE. Instead, it is more helpful to look at the specific frequency “band class” that is supported. Band classes are assigned by a wireless standards organization to ensure manufacturers are using the same specifications when developing components for devices. By matching frequency band classes, it is the best way to know if the feature phone or smartphone you are planning to buy is compatible with carrier’s network. When buying a new phone, a carrier's store is usually the first choice for many users. This option is convenient and time-saving, since during one visit you can buy a new smartphone, activate it on a plan of your choice and do all the required paperwork. The things is, though, that phones sold by carriers are locked, meaning that they won't work on any other network. If you don't plan to switch carriers anytime soon, it won't be a problem. However, the multitude of plans offered by service providers results in users seeking the freedom of moving between networks without having to buy a new device each time. If that's the case, you may want to opt for an unlocked smartphone. Here's a short guide on how to buy unlocked phones like a pro. Most major smartphone makers offer today unlocked phones through their own stores, for instance Apple, Motorola or Samsung. Certain models can also be found in physical stores which sell phones and other smart devices, but your best choice seems to be shopping online where the selection of brands and models is virtually unlimited. However, before you buy an unlocked phone, there are a few things you should take into account and ask the seller before pulling a trigger on the deal.A phone can be factory unlocked by manufacturer or someone else, for example a retailer. The main advantage of buying phones unlocked by a manufacturer is that they come with a warranty. Phones unlocked by a third party shouldn't cause any problems in terms of hardware or software when it's done correctly, but the process of unlocking by someone other than the maker will automatically void the warranty. In contrast to phones sold by carriers which offer a number of financing options, unlocked devices are available only at full price. Prices generally depend on the brand and model of the phone, however, since retailers are free to set their own prices, they can vary great from site to site. For this reason it's a good idea to check several stores using Cheap Phones' comparison tools before buying a phone to make sure that you will get your phone at the cheapest price. Before you buy an unlocked phone, it would be a good idea to make sure that it will be compatible with the carrier of your choice. Remember that unlocked phones won't work on a CDMA network utilized by Sprint and Verizon. It should operate on all GSM carriers without any issues, though. However, just to be on the safe side, you may want to check if this particular model will support the bands of your carrier for super fast 4G LTE speeds.Unlocking phones is a pretty safe process, but it means altering some settings. As a result, certain features requiring data network may not work properly. If you know how to modify the settings, you will be able to solve the problem yourself. Otherwise, you may need to ask for help with making your phone fully functional. Of course, not all unlocked phones come with similar limitations, but it may be helpful to know that such possibility exists. While the freedom of switching carriers in the US is the main advantage of owning an unlocked phone, traveling abroad is a whole different story. In most cases, an unlocked phone will be compatible with any GSM network regardless of where you are, but some models operate only on certain bands. Dual-band phones released for the US market usually will work only in North and South America. If you plan on using your phone abroad, it might be a good idea to ask if the phone on sale is a tri-band or a quad-band device to avoid any connectivity interruptions. If the phone was unlocked by anyone else than the manufacturer, the warranty most likely will no longer be valid. It means that you will have to pay for the repairs of any device malfunction that normally is covered by the warranty. If you want to avoid such situations, you may want to choose a factory unlocked phone which is a bit more expensive. If you are currently in the market for an unlocked phone, you can find plenty of models on Cheap Phones. Just choose Cheap Unlocked Phones category and you will be able to look for a phone that matches your preferences best. You can do so by specifying search options, such as: price, manufacturer, condition, mobile operating system and key features. You just have to remember to check a few things before you do that. This method had its advantages, such as allowed you to buy a decent phone for cheap or sometimes get it for free, but its major downside was that it locked customers to one network and phone usually for as long as two years. With manufacturers updating their lineups at least once a year, 24-month contracts were a huge obstacle for users who wanted to stay up to date. With them gone is subsidized pricing forcing customers to buy phones at full retail price or choose one of financing plans. While at first it may seem like a catch, it actually provides a few interesting options. For instance, you can buy a used or refurbished phone, which tend to be much cheaper than brand new models, or use a phone you already own on the network of your choice. It’s especially important if you buy a cheap phone from a lesser known manufacturer, since its specification may make proper functioning on the network impossible. Here’s what you need to know when you buy a phone and bring it to Verizon. Both technologies are very different from each other and as of now there is no easy fix that can make a GSM device compatible with a CDMA network. Since most of the world relies on GSM technology, unlocked phones don’t include CDMA networks, hence they normally won’t work on Verizon network. However, even though 4G technology used by carriers is uniform throughout the world, it doesn’t mean that a 4G LTE smartphone will work on every single network. That’s because each carrier has its own radio frequencies. In other words, a phone needs to be capable of tuning into frequencies specific to the carrier of your choice in order to work properly. Otherwise, you may have to deal with some serious issues such as significantly slower downloads or no service at all. As far as LTE is concerned, though, making sure the frequency matches is not the only thing to check. Carriers actually use different “chunks” of the same frequency for their LTE networks, hence it’s more useful to look at the specific LTE frequency “band class” that is supported. If you’re thinking of bringing a phone to Verizon, you need to make sure that it supports any of these three LTE band classes: LTE band 13 (700 MHz c), band 4 (1700 MHz f) or band 2 (1900 MHz). Moreover, some frequencies may not be available in certain areas, since carriers own licenses for specific markets. For this reason, unless all bands match exactly, the phone you plan to buy may not work properly. Additionally, buying used phones is the easiest way to get a phone at the cheapest possibly price. However, in some cases, buying used phones online may be risky. Here are some tips to help you find a used phone at great value and purchase it at minimum hazard.
